Start a Save Soil Club at your school.

More than half the world's agricultural soil is already degraded, and the UN estimates 90% of topsoil could be at risk by 2050. Soil grows 95% of our food — and it's disappearing within our lifetime. Lead a global movement, right from your campus.

UN-affiliated organizations backing it

Save Soil, launched by Conscious Planet, is backed by the UN Environment Programme, UN FAO, UNCCD, World Food Programme, and IUCN. By starting a club, you bring a globally credible cause to your community — and few high-school activities can say that.

What a club looks like.

It's simple and doable alongside your classes — two activities a month, with a complete 8-month plan, leadership roles, and a toolkit ready for you. No starting from scratch.

One learning meeting a month

Documentaries, hands-on demos, and guest speakers — farmers, soil scientists, and city officials (virtual talks welcome).

One community activity a month

Documentary screenings, farmers-market booths, letter-writing drives, and an Earth Day walkathon that happens globally.

The 8-month plan

01
Soil Is Life

Why soil is the foundation of food, water, climate, and life.

02
The Living Soil

Soil as a living ecosystem — and what degradation means for our future.

03
Regeneration in Action

Cover crops, reduced tillage, crop rotation, agroforestry.

04
From Soil to Plate

How the quality of soil shapes the nutrition of our food.

05
Soil & Water

How healthy soil absorbs water and builds flood and drought resilience.

06
Be the Voice for Soil

Advocacy, soil policy, and speaking up to leaders.

07
Celebrate Soil

Celebrate the movement and explore careers in soil health.

08
Growing Forward

Share the year's impact and prepare next year's leaders.

Leadership roles

What it does for you — and your college applications.

Founding leadership

Colleges look for initiative, not just participation. Recruiting members, securing an advisor, and running events is a leadership story you created — not one you inherited.

Measurable impact

Your club tracks real numbers — screenings held, people reached, soil restored. Concrete results make application essays stand out.

Real-world skills

Public speaking, event planning, media outreach, and civic advocacy — including meeting scientists, farmers, and officials who can become mentors and recommenders.

Service hours & a global cause

Monthly outreach counts toward service requirements and honor societies — for a movement backed by five UN-affiliated organizations.
